LeashLink ("we", "us", "our") operates the LeashLink mobile applications and API. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and role (owner, walker, or manager). Walkers provide additional profile information such as service area and rate.

Pet Information

Owners provide pet details including name, breed, weight, veterinary contacts, and photos.

Location Data

Walker devices submit GPS coordinates during active walks. Location pings are used to provide real-time tracking to pet owners and to optimize walking routes. Location data is retained for 90 days and then automatically deleted.

Custody Records

We log pet custody transfers (pickups, drop-offs, delegations) with timestamps and coordinates. These records are append-only and retained indefinitely as an auditable trail.

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We store Stripe customer and account identifiers but do not store credit card numbers or bank account details on our servers.

Usage Data

We collect device tokens for push notifications (APNs, FCM) and standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps).

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate the Service: matching owners with walkers, scheduling walks, processing payments, and sending notifications.
• To provide real-time location tracking during active walks.
• To generate invoices and facilitate payments between owners and walkers.
• To maintain custody audit trails for pet safety.
• To send push notifications about walk status, delegation requests, and social activity.
• To improve the Service and fix issues.

3. Information Sharing

We share information only as follows:

• Between users: Owners see walker profiles, walk status, and location during active walks. Walkers see pet information for their scheduled walks.
• Stripe: Payment data is shared with Stripe for processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Retention

• Location pings: 90 days, then automatically deleted.
• Custody logs: Retained indefinitely (append-only audit trail).
• Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion request, subject to legal retention requirements.
• Invoices: Retained for 7 years per financial record requirements.

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), secure password hashing, and JWT-based authentication. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel.

6. Your Rights

You may:

• Access and update your profile information through the app.
• Delete your posts, comments, and photos at any time.
• Request a copy of your data or account deletion by contacting us.
• Opt out of non-essential push notifications through device settings.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
